Athletic Training
Athletic Training Services
Athletic trainers are licensed healthcare professionals with specialized training in the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. At Deerfield High School, certified athletic trainers are present at all athletic events to provide immediate care and ongoing support to student-athletes.
In the event of an injury occurring outside of school-supervised activities, student-athletes are encouraged to visit the athletic training staff on the next scheduled day of their sport for evaluation and guidance.
Injury-specific and concussion-related forms are available further down on this page.
The athletic training staff appreciates the opportunity to support the health and well-being of all student-athletes. For any questions or additional information, families are encouraged to contact the athletic training office directly.

Dr. Carey Eugene Ellis began working with DHS Athletic Trainers in the spring of 2024 and brings a depth of sports medicine knowledge, also serving as a team physician for the Chicago Bears and other professional sports teams in Chicago. Dr. Ellis will provide on-site medical services on Mondays at the Deerfield HS Athletic Training Facility as well as Football games in the fall.
Dr. Ellis sees patients in Lincolnshire and Glenbrook. To book an appointment with Dr. Ellis, please reach out to DHS Athletic Trainers or contact the NorthShore SportsCare Concierge Service at 224-251-2467 and specify that you are a Deerfield HS athlete needing to be seen.
