About

Badminton is a great combination of an individual sport, while also being a part of a team atmosphere.  We know we get stronger by making others on the team better.  The team members help coach each other during matches and work with each other to improve.  

A select group of the girls will work in the off season.  This is not an expectation.  We run a summer camp to learn skills and have fun. We will also have open gyms available preseason to extend the fun!  Playing multiple sports is healthy and allows athletes to improve cross sport skills such as quick footwork!

Tryouts start Monday, March 2.  We practice/compete 6 days a week and continue until early May.  The state tournament is in mid-May and six players will be eligible to attend.   We are competitive with the teams around us.

What do you need to play?  A great attitude and a good pair of shoes! We have rackets and people excited to teach you!

Want to join:  Come to open gyms and fall in love with badminton,  then show up for tryouts ready to work and learn!  It’s as easy as that!

• 2024 Regional Champions. Lost in Sectional Final. Deepest playoff run in program history. 
• We will carry 4 teams. Varsity, JV, Frosh/Soph, and Frosh.
• We will practice or play games Monday-Saturday every week. Last regular season game is 5/23.
• Baseball is a cut sport. Tryouts will be 3/2- 3/4
• Player meetings will happen  on 3/4
• The Varsity will play up to 35 regular season games (weather dependent) and the State Tournament.
• The lower levels will play anywhere from 28-35 games (weather dependent)

Boys Lacrosse is a Spring Sport looking for athletes at all grade levels. Boys lacrosse welcomes both experienced and inexperienced athletes into the program. BLAX has 2 levels JV and Varsity(possible 3rd level pending numbers). Boys Lacrosse season will begin its 2024-25 campaign on March 3rd with practices 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday with games once or twice a week beginning March 17th and the season typically ends in late May. 

Team Philosophy- “Win through improvement”

Each practice, chalk talk and team event will have a theme:

• Focus
• Effort
• Perseverance

Coaches will not be caught up in the outcomes of our games, we will be FOCUSED on the development of the person.

Coaches will not play players based on their skill or stats, players will earn playing time based on their EFFORT on and off the field.

Coaches will not be critical of mistakes, we will provide support and ensure players PERSEVERE THROUGH ADVERSITY.

Eligibility Requirements: All Athletes must be passing 5 Classes

Varsity: Juniors/Seniors can be Cut, Underclassmen who do not make Varsity will be placed on JV.

JV: No Cut/ Experience Needed

Since 2006, the Boys Varsity Tennis team has had a great deal of success:

• Four State Trophies (top 3 finishes)
• 12 Top 10 State finishes
• Six Sectional Championships
• Six CSL North titles
• Two IHSA State Singles Titles: Jason Brown (‘12), Vuk Budic (‘17)
• One IHSA State Doubles Title: Chris Casati & Niko Wasilewicz (‘16)
• Over 50 All-State Individual Awards.

Looking for a fun sport to play in the spring?

Come join a very competitive and exciting program at DHS!  A lot of players discover their passion for volleyball upon entering high school and some have not even had any playing experience coming in from middle school.

The varsity team has enjoyed great success over the last 25 plus years and continues to be amongst the state’s top programs!

Water polo is a fun team spring sport that is exciting, challenging and competitive.  It provides community and works to develop confidence, awareness, selflessness and competitiveness.  Character counts.

Season begins the first week in March and goes until mid May.  We are a no cut sport and no experience required. Moderate swimming ability recommended.  Come try water polo at one of our open pools in the fall.

Our season will start on March 3 and will end in mid-May. We have three levels: Varsity, JV, and Frosh/Soph, with each team consisting of 20-24 players. 

Athletes of all experience levels are welcome to tryout! 
Most frosh/soph players are new to lacrosse, JV players have some experience, and Varsity players have played for a few seasons.

Equipment needed: girls lacrosse stick, goggles, formed mouthguard; cleats are encouraged.

Tryouts take place the first week of spring season!

We are a no-cut sport and encourage everyone to try.  With 18 events to choose from, you’ll find one you enjoy.  Track is great for multi-sport athletes and can be balanced with off-season club sports.  

Season runs mid-January through mid-May (We practice Monday - Friday and on some Saturdays).  If you participate in a winter sport or the musical, you can join once your season ends!

Run fast, run far, hurdle, jump, vault or throw - come see which event you like best!

Water polo is an exciting and fast-paced team sport. We are a young team developing the skills and strategies required for strong offense and defense. 

Come learn this fun game and gain experience playing one of the best sports at DHS. Water polo is:

A no cut sport
Fun, exciting & competitive
A great compliment to swimming, volleyball, and soccer
The primary requirement is that the athlete must be able to swim 200 yards.Water polo is a no-cut sport so we welcome all who want to come learn and play.

If you want to join polo, register online and come to the first week of practice in the spring!
