This recorded webinar will serve as an important introduction to course offerings and the online registration process. By viewing the recorded webinar in advance of High School Preview Night, students and families will be prepared to ask informed questions when they meet with academic department chairs and teachers.

Course Placement: Placement in Mathematics, Science, English, Social Studies, and World Languages will be determined based on current course placement and by reviewing standardized test results. When course registration opens on January 14, families will be able to view locked course placements (standard/honors) as well as request electives. We encourage families to watch the High School Registration Video and attend High School Preview Night so they can make informed decisions about course requests.

High School Preview Night - Wednesday, January 14, 2026
Dear Class of 2030 Families:
We are excited to welcome you to the Warrior family! During the upcoming months, we have several opportunities for you to get to know Deerfield High School and prepare for next school year. On Wednesday, January 14, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., we invite you to join us for High School Preview Night. High School Preview Night offers an opportunity for 8th graders and their parents/guardians to meet our high school leaders and teachers, explore the array of courses, extracurriculars, and services available, chat with students to learn about the high school experience, and connect with parent/guardian organizations.
For this event, students and families should enter the building at our main entrance (circle drive). Our parent/guardian organizations will welcome you at the entrance, where you can learn more about how to get involved with these different groups - and even stock up on Warrior apparel! After exploring what our parent organizations have to offer, you will head to the Warrior Gym for a fun-filled presentation starting promptly at 6:30 pm. At 7:30 p.m., students and families will be able to tour the building and talk to administrators, teachers, and students about subject-specific courses, activities, athletics, and much more.
The next step in the registration process is the opening of course requests. On January 14 (Wednesday), you can begin entering course requests in Infinite Campus. Additional information regarding how to select courses will be sent at that time.
We look forward to seeing you next week at High School Preview Night!

High School Preview Night Class of 2030 - Information Packet:
Current Freshman
The formal process to choose one's courses for the following school year begins in Advisory for freshmen with the Graduation Tracking lesson. Freshmen will work with their counselors in December on a Graduation Tracking lesson where they learn about graduation requirements, the resources available to learn about course offerings, and how to keep track of their requirements. Each student will create an individualized graduation tracker that will be used throughout their high school career for registration and postsecondary planning. Students will want to think about special interests, talents and potential career choices as they consider courses to fulfill their requirements.
As part of the registration process, teachers discuss course recommendations with students and enter their recommendations into Infinite Campus. Teacher recommendations begin with "REC" before the course name. Counselors follow the guidance of teacher recommendations when finalizing course requests with students.
During Pre-Registration Presentations in January, counselors will present an overview of the registration process. Counselors offer optional pre-registration walk-through days for students to ask individual questions. During designated Advisory periods, counselors finalize course requests with each student. Course Verification is the final opportunity for students and families to review course requests and notify the counselor of errors.

Transfer Students
Enrollment and Online Registration Information
Setting a Transfer Meeting with the Counselor:
Once residency is verified, you will be contacted by the Counseling Department Administrative Assistant to set a time to meet with a counselor for the intake meeting. Both student and parent/guardian must be present at this meeting.
Transfer Process:
The counselor meets with the student and parent/guardian, and a tentative schedule is made. The student may meet with department chairs for course placements and other department representatives for various programs and services, as needed. This process takes about 1-2 hours. Please be prepared to share information regarding previous academic experiences and discuss student preferences for courses. If you would like to review course offerings prior to your appointment, click here to view our Program of Studies.
On the student's first day of school, they will be matched with a Peer Helper. The Peer Helper will take the student on a school tour and will help the student get an ID card, locker, and Chromebook and set up an email account.
For Late-Spring and Summer Transfers:
The Registrar will work with the family to complete forms and submit documentation for residency verification. Once residency eligibility is approved, the student and parent/guardian will meet with a counselor for an intake meeting. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors will participate in our Transfer Student Orientation in August. There is a program for parents/guardians as well. Freshman transfers and families will participate in Warrior Welcome, a program held for all incoming freshmen and their parents/guardians.
