In partnership with parents/guardians, educators, and community stakeholders, the Deerfield High School Counseling Department implements a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes student achievement and personal wellness.
School counselors are professional educators with a mental health perspective. School counselors do not work in isolation; rather, they are integral to the total education program. School counselors help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and college/career development (Postsecondary and Career Expectations Framework). Students work with the same counselor throughout their high school career. Students can access their school counselor's calendar through the student's Counselor folder in Schoology. Students can utilize their free periods, off-labs, and passing periods to schedule a meeting.
In addition, students have access to school social workers and postsecondary counselors. Diagnostic and supportive services are available to students with special needs. Information on college admissions testing, financial aid, and post high school planning is available in the College and Career Resource Center (CCRC).
