Chinese Honor Society

The Deerfield High Chinese Honor Society 中文榮譽學會(中文荣誉学会) is a member of the National Chinese Honor Society (NCHS). The objective of the organization is to stimulate interest in the study of Chinese, to promote higher standards of scholarship, to reward high scholastic achievement, to create enthusiasm for an understanding of Chinese culture and to promote and perpetuate international friendship. At the induction ceremony, students display their individual talents in Chinese by singing, dancing, chanting, reading poems, performing skits, playing instruments, diabolo performance and presenting films. Parents and all students are invited to attend.

Eligibility requirements include the following:

• Current enrollment in at least the fourth semester of DHS Chinese.
• Cumulative semester average of B- in DHS Chinese and Chinese Honors. This cumulative semester average is based on the four preceding semesters of Chinese.
