Announcements
Congratulations on receiving many personal medals and State-qualifying
scores at the Sectional competition! The competition was tough, yet your results
were much stronger than last year (the first year DHS was in the Unlimited
Division). Detailed results are below.
Although the team as a whole did not advance, any individual receiving a
first- or second-place medal, and anyone receiving a State-qualifying score,
will advance to the State competition on Thursday 22 April 2004. Trip details
are below.
State
Practices
We will practice the following dates and times in room X-125.
- Thursday 15 April 2004, 6:00-7:30 pm
- Monday 19 April 2004, 3:30-4:30 pm
Please attend if you can; otherwise, continue to prepare on your own, take
old exams, etc. This year's Regional and Sectional exams, as well as previous
years' Regional, Sectional, and State exams, are on the WYSE
web site.
Competition — Thursday 22 April 2004
The competition will be hosted at the University of Illinois in Urbana. (See
schedule)
We will depart DHS at 5:30 am and travel to Urbana for the competition.
The award ceremony is scheduled to end at 3:00 pm; we should return to DHS
around 6:30 pm. Please print the permission
form and bring the completed form to Mr. Esgar or Mr. Hinton by Friday
16 April 2004.
Sectional
Practices
We will practice the following dates and times in room X-125. Attendance at
practices is not mandatory, but please attend as often as possible.
- Thursday 19 February 2004, 3:30-4:30 pm
- Wednesday 25 February 2004, 6:00-7:30 pm
- Monday 15 March 2004, 3:30-4:30 pm note change!
- Thursday 18 March 2004, 6:00-7:30 pm
If you cannot attend practices (or even if you can), you may print tests
and test keys from previous years' competitions for additional practice. Go
to the WYSE web
site for these tests.
Competition — Thursday 25 March 2004
We will depart DHS at 2:45 pm and go to Notre Dame High School for the competition.
(The school is just east of Milwaukee on Dempster in Niles, IL.) Tests will
be at approximately 4 and 5 pm. We then will provide dinner (pizza). It typically
takes some time for them to tabulate results, so you may want to take along
homework. Awards should be presented by 7-8 pm and we should return to DHS
by 8-9 pm.

Regional
Practices
We will practice the following dates and times in room X-125. Attendance at

Competition — Saturday 7 February 2004
Meet in the front lobby of DHS. We will depart at 7:45 am and go to CLC in
Grayslake for the competition. Lunch will be provided. Awards will be presented
after lunch and we should return to DHS between 2:00 and 3:00 pm.
Please print the permission form and
bring the completed form to Mr. Esgar or Mr. Hinton, preferably before
Saturday.
Results
The DHS team finished second
place in the unlimited division (schools with more than 1500 students),
thus the entire team will advance to the Sectional competition. Individual
medals were awarded as follows:
