Announcements

Congratulations on receiving many personal medals and State-qualifying scores at the Sectional competition! The competition was tough, yet your results were much stronger than last year (the first year DHS was in the Unlimited Division). Detailed results are below.

Although the team as a whole did not advance, any individual receiving a first- or second-place medal, and anyone receiving a State-qualifying score, will advance to the State competition on Thursday 22 April 2004. Trip details are below.

State

Practices
We will practice the following dates and times in room X-125.

Please attend if you can; otherwise, continue to prepare on your own, take old exams, etc. This year's Regional and Sectional exams, as well as previous years' Regional, Sectional, and State exams, are on the WYSE web site.

Competition — Thursday 22 April 2004
The competition will be hosted at the University of Illinois in Urbana. (See schedule)

We will depart DHS at 5:30 am and travel to Urbana for the competition. The award ceremony is scheduled to end at 3:00 pm; we should return to DHS around 6:30 pm. Please print the permission form and bring the completed form to Mr. Esgar or Mr. Hinton by Friday 16 April 2004.

Sectional

Practices
We will practice the following dates and times in room X-125. Attendance at practices is not mandatory, but please attend as often as possible.

If you cannot attend practices (or even if you can), you may print tests and test keys from previous years' competitions for additional practice. Go to the WYSE web site for these tests.

Competition — Thursday 25 March 2004
We will depart DHS at 2:45 pm and go to Notre Dame High School for the competition. (The school is just east of Milwaukee on Dempster in Niles, IL.) Tests will be at approximately 4 and 5 pm. We then will provide dinner (pizza). It typically takes some time for them to tabulate results, so you may want to take along homework. Awards should be presented by 7-8 pm and we should return to DHS by 8-9 pm.

Please print the permission form and bring the completed form to Mr. Esgar or Mr. Hinton.

Regional

Practices
We will practice the following dates and times in room X-125. Attendance at practices is not mandatory, but please attend as often as possible.

If you cannot attend practices (or even if you can), you may print tests and test keys from previous years' competitions for additional practice. Go to the WYSE web site for these tests.

Competition — Saturday 7 February 2004
Meet in the front lobby of DHS. We will depart at 7:45 am and go to CLC in Grayslake for the competition. Lunch will be provided. Awards will be presented after lunch and we should return to DHS between 2:00 and 3:00 pm.

Please print the permission form and bring the completed form to Mr. Esgar or Mr. Hinton, preferably before Saturday.
