Do you know that a car emits 20 times more pollution when idling than when driven? Do you know that idling does not save gas?

On Friday, April 20th DHS Earthworks students joined the Deerfield Sustainability Commission and School District 109 in an Idling Education Project for Earth Day. Earthworks members passed out informational flyers about idling in the DHS back parking lot to parents waiting to pick up students after school.

The goal is to educate the Deerfield community about how car idling pollutes and can impact our health as we breathe the air. Students shared with parents some of the myths about idling and passed out close to 100 informational flyers.

Earthworks Club sponsors Stephanie Chambers and Jaime Stasiorowski supervised the students in this task.
