Deerfield High School teacher Dan McKendrick will take over the top coaching position of the boys’ basketball team next season.
McKendrick has been both a math teacher and basketball coach at DHS for the past decade.
“Next year will mark his 10th year as a boys’ basketball coach at DHS. In his tenure here he has coached on every level of the program,” Robert Ruiz, DHS Athletic Director, said. “His work ethic, commitment and dedication to our students and athletes leave me confident that Coach McKendrick will continue to grow our program and build on our rich and proud basketball traditions.”
McKendrick grew up in Villa Park and attended Willowbrook High School where he was a team captain and all-conference selection in basketball and baseball. He went on to play four years of varsity college basketball at Trinity International University in Deerfield. McKendrick graduated from Trinity in 2003 with a BA in Mathematics Secondary Education. Since, he has earned a Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education from Northeastern Illinois University and a Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Concordia University.
