DHS Parents, Students and Staff:
This is an update regarding our current status. This evening, February 4, 2010, the canine team came to DHS as scheduled and completed a comprehensive search. They found nothing. The building is clear. School is open tomorrow, Friday, February 5th. Regular class and bus schedules will be followed.
School personnel will still be conducting a search of backpacks, purses and bags and will request that students show their ID to enter school. The Deerfield Police Department will continue to work closely with us. Officers will be present on our campus. We will continue to utilize procedures as outlined by the safety and security experts and the Deerfield Police Department. We intend to hold all school events, including after school events. Backpacks, purses, and bags will be searched for every individual entering the building throughout the day and evening events.
As noted, we will continue to investigate the incident. The safety and well being our students, staff and everyone who visits DHS is our top priority.
I look forward to seeing our students, staff, and community members in school tomorrow or at the basketball game in the evening.
